CROP PROGRESS AND CONDITION 4/29/25 As
planting continues to ramp up across the state, earlier planted corn and
soybean plants are beginning to emerge. According
to the USDA Crop and Progress Report on Monday there were 3.1 days suitable for
fieldwork in the week ending April 27th. Statewide, the average
temperature was 59.6 degrees, 3.8 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged
1.10 inches, 0.26 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1%
very short, 10% short, 66% adequate, and 23% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply
was rated 2% very short, 14% short, 66% adequate, and 18% surplus. Corn
planted reached 16%, compared to the 5-year average of 26%. Corn emerged
reached 2%, compared to the 5-year average of 3%. Soybeans
planted reached 22%, compared to the 5-year average of 20%. Soybeans emerged
reached 4%, compared to the 5-year average of 2%. Winter
wheat headed reached 16%, compared to the 5-year average of 12%. Winter wheat
condition was rated 2% very poor, 4% poor, 37% fair, 49% good, and 8%
excellent.
