LIBRARY GRANTS 4/23/25 Flora
and Clay City Schools are among nearly 2,500 districts statewide that are
receiving funding from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office for school
libraries. Secretary
of State Alexi Giannoulias, who is also the state librarian, says the Flora
School District will receive $1,072.62 and Clay City School District will receive
$850. The
grants are given to libraries each spring and support students in grades K-12. The
grants fund new library books, e-books, audiobooks, periodicals, multilingual
library materials, as well as technology support and programs. Giannoulias
says.” “Illinois students deserve to have access to quality library resources,
including learning materials, books and online services at our public schools. Libraries
serve as places of knowledge, learning, and discovery, and this funding will
help equip them to educate and inspire our future generations.” Each
school district receives a minimum of $850, which represents just under 90
cents per student in each district.
