ASSISTANT STATE’S ATTORNEY

The Clay County State’s Attorney is seeking to hire an Assistant State’s Attorney to fill a full-time salaried position with a licensed Illinois attorney in a collegial work environment.  However, Rule 711 candidates will also be considered.  A part-time or contract position may be available on different terms.  Please send a letter of interest and resume to SAOffice@claycounty.illinois.gov.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  Duties include but are not limited to: Prosecuting or otherwise handling primarily county ordinance violations, traffic offenses, misdemeanors, juvenile cases, truancy matters, and possibly some felony matters.  Also, some ‘As assigned’ tasks for which the State’s Attorney’s Office is responsible.

Mandatory Qualifications are Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, Those with a valid Supreme Court Rule 711 License may be eligible for hire upon different terms.  In good standing, Familiarity with Windows based computer systems, and Familiarity with Microsoft Word.

Criminal and/or Juvenile law experience desired but not required.  However, the selected candidate must be capable of keeping an accelerated learning pace.

Full-Time Benefits include Dental, Health and Vision insurance.  IMRF retirement, Paid time off.  Office hours for full-time employees are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday-Friday, with a 1-hour lunch from noon to 1:00 pm.  A full-time Assistant State’s Attorney may be expected to be on call and work after hours as needed.

Salary range is based on experience and will be between $50,000-$75,000.
