ASSISTANT STATE’S ATTORNEY 4/23/25 The
Clay County State’s Attorney is seeking to hire an Assistant State’s Attorney
to fill a full-time salaried position with a licensed Illinois attorney in a
collegial work environment. However, Rule 711 candidates will also be
considered. A part-time or contract position may be available on different

otherwise handling primarily county ordinance violations, traffic offenses,
misdemeanors, juvenile cases, truancy matters, and possibly some felony matters.
Also, some ‘As assigned’ tasks for which the State’s Attorney’s Office is

Qualifications are Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois,
Those with a valid Supreme Court Rule 711 License may be eligible for hire upon
different terms. In good standing, Familiarity with Windows based computer
systems, and Familiarity with Microsoft Word. Criminal
and/or Juvenile law experience desired but not required. However, the selected
candidate must be capable of keeping an accelerated learning pace. Full-Time

time off. Office hours for full-time employees are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Monday-Friday, with a 1-hour lunch from noon to 1:00 pm. A full-time Assistant
State’s Attorney may be expected to be on call and work after hours as needed. Salary
range is based on experience and will be between $50,000-$75,000.
