WEEKEND WEATHER 4/21/25 Severe
weather that moved through the area Saturday morning left a path of damage through
Clay County. Thunderstorms with strong winds caused structural damage. Clay
Electric Coop reported numerous power outages in northern Clay County shortly
after 9 am Saturday due to downed power lines. By late Saturday afternoon
power was restored to most residents. Tri-County Electric reported over
800 customers off after the storm, mostly in the Kinmundy area. Most were
restored by seven Saturday night. Steve
Lewis with Clay County ESDA reports that they received several reports of
structure damage, damaged power poles, and trees down, mostly in the
northeastern part of the County and around Louisville. ESDA is asking for
pictures of damage to be posted to their Facebook page, late Sunday night there
were over 145 comments with pictures. Here
at the US Weather Bureau station at WNOI we recorded .83 of rain on Friday, .81
on Saturday, and .66 on Sunday, for a weekend total of 2.3 inches of rain, Just
in time for the weekend weather, the NOAA Weather Radio station in Newton was
back on the air. But the station was damaged in the storms and is off the
air once again. The station has been on and off the air since mid March.
