Harold
V. Murbarger, 82, of Olney, IL, passed away April 28, 2025 at Carle Richland
Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. Harold
V. Murbarger was born December 21, 1942 in Olney, IL to parents, John Murbarger
and Dorothy (Lambird) Murbarger. He married Nancy Huchel, and they had three
children together and later divorced. Harold
was a master negotiator and enjoyed putting together a deal. He traded mostly
in cars, but he also traded other collectibles; such as memorabilia, old toys,
and automotive merchandise. Harold
served in the US Army Reserve/National Guard in the 1960's. After his time in
the service, he worked as a barber and then a setup man at Champion Labs. In
the early 70's he co-owned M&G grocery store in Parkersburg until he
founded M&L Well Service in the late 70's and continued in the petroleum
industry until his last days. From
the time he was a young man he was always interested in cars. He took pleasure
in racing stock cars at The White Squirrel Speedway but most of all he enjoyed
buying, selling, and collecting cars. Harold had a nationwide network of car
buyers and collectors. Harold
was a proud dad and papaw. He loved scaring the grandkids and enjoyed his time
around family. Harold
is survived by his children, Michelle Brooks and husband Russ of Olney, Melissa
Gamboe and husband Tom of Swansea, IL, and Michael "Tug" Murbarger of
Claremont; grandchildren, Ashli (Daniel) Messina, Ian Zumbahlen, Levi (MaryBeth
DeCuyke) Weiler, Connor (Ashley Rapice) Court, Carson Gamboe, Kinsey
(Johnathan) Armstrong; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Joshua, Joel, Karmyn, Eli,
and Jax; close companion, Lillian Angle; sister, Connie Russell; and several
nieces, nephews, and close cousins. Preceded
in death by his parents; brother, John Murbarger; and sister, Janice Murbarger. Kistler-Patterson
Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements. Visitation
will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney. Funeral
Services will be held on Wednesday, Apr 30th, 2025 at 9:00 AM at
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney. Interment
will take place on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Wakefield Cemetery. Memorials
can be made to Richland County Hope.
