Douglas Keith Hosselton, 72, of Olney, IL, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at the University of Chicago Medicine Hospital surrounded by family.

Douglas was born August 5, 1952 in Wayne County, IL to parents Gill and Helen (Henry) Hosselton. He was raised on the farm in Zif with his three brothers, Ronnie, John, and Bruce.  He graduated from Clay City High School in 1970. After high school, Doug attended Olney Central College. He then decided pharmacy was his chosen path and set out on his adventure to Chicago where he attended the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy to receive his Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy degree in 1975.

On February 9, 1980, he married Karen Hahn. Together they share one daughter, Tara. Together, Doug and Karen spent their years traveling to follow all of Tara's events. He was the proudest husband and Dad to his girls.

Doug dedicated his life to helping people in the world of medicine. He dedicated 42 years to community pharmacy and even inspired his daughter to follow in his footsteps. His first career move took him to Weber Medical Clinic where he worked for five years. He then spent the majority of his career as the Pharmacist in Charge with Hooks, SuperX, Revco, then finally CVS/Caremark in Olney. After retirement you could find him as a relief pharmacist for local independent pharmacies. He had a hard time stepping away from the career that he loved and the relationships he cherished with so many.

Doug was an avid sports fan, a passionate investor in the stock market, and loved to play blackjack. His most favorite pastime was watching his two grandkids, Colby and Sadie, play baseball, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. If he wasn't watching the kids, he was undoubtedly watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini. Before his health started to deteriorate, Doug and his best friend Paul and brother Bruce, set off to follow the Cardinals and visit every National League Stadium in the United States. They succeeded! At the end of their "tour" they traveled to Cooperstown, topped off by the last game they attended together being Yadier Molina and Albert Pujols' retirement game where neither one had a dry eye.

The beach was Doug and Karen's "happy place."   Every year, the family headed south to Florida to enjoy downtime in the sun. Many of these vacations were to Panama City Beach and Fort Myers Beach, in the most recent years. These trips always involved family, but many friends were made along the way as well. You could always count on Doug to be as red as a lobster all week, but always the one to go home with the best tan. He especially enjoyed grilling steaks in the sand with a cold drink and going out for a nice lobster meal any chance he had.

Doug is survived by his wife, Karen Hosselton of Olney; daughter Tara (Tyler) Claypool of Marshall, IL; 2 grandchildren Colby and Sadie Claypool; brother Ronnie Hosselton of Clay City, IL, brother John (Darlene) Hosselton of Cisne, IL, brother Bruce (Jane) Hosselton of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law Kathy Slankard of Ste. Marie, IL; sister-in-law Annette Kirts of Ste. Marie, IL, sister-in-law Sharon (Fred) Kocher of Chatham, IL, brother-in-law Larry (Dolores) Hahn of Newton, IL, brother-in-law Jim (Jennie) Hahn of Mattoon, IL, brother-in-law Kevin (Becky) Hahn of Danville, IN; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Gill and Helen Hosselton, father and mother-in-law James and Dorothy Hahn, and sisters-in-law Agnes Hosselton and Denise Hahn, niece Amanda Sue Hosselton.
