Danny L. McGrew, age 75, of Xenia,
Illinois, passed away early April 24, 2025, at his home. He was born May 15,
1949, in Flora, the son of Herschel Edward “H.E.” and Dorothy (Watson) McGrew.
He was united in marriage to Catherine McDannel on January 26, 1972, in
Louisville, and together they have shared 53 wedding anniversaries. Danny served in the
Army during Vietnam from 1968-1970. He worked as a cable splicer for GTE phone
company. He was a member of the Flora VFW Post 3999, the Edgewood American
Legion, and the Flora Moose. He enjoyed camping, visiting with friends and
family, and spending time with his little dog, Moonie. He is survived by his
wife: Kit McGrew of Xenia; 2 daughters: Bridget (Don) DeAndrade of San Diego,
California and Leslie McGrew (Cameron Tracy) of Santa Monica, California; 3
grandchildren: Kodie (Erin) McGrew of Flora, Kaleb Kuhlman of Louisville, and
Sierra (Malik) Naaser of San Diego, California; 7 great-grandchildren;
siblings: Ronnie (Barbara) McGrew of Xenia, Charles (Debbie) McGrew of Arcola,
and Carla (Stan) Stanford of Flora; 2 brothers-in-law: Mike McDannel of
Westville, Indiana and Ron Prather of Louisville; and several nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in
death by his parents; a daughter: Sheila Henson; granddaughter: Kasandra
Henson; and 2 sisters: Phyllis McGrew and Barbara Prather. A Celebration of Life will
be held at 12 noon on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Edgewood American Legion with
the presentation of military funeral honors. Arrangements are by Frank &
Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to the local
chapter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and these will be accepted
