Larry
E. Logan, 84, of Farina, Illinois passed away at 5:19 am, Saturday, May 4,
2024, at the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham,
Illinois. Larry
was born on January 9, 1940, in Clay County, Illinois the son of Arlie and
Clela (Fulfer) Logan. From his early years, Larry was no stranger to hard work,
having started his career in the oil fields. His dedication and skill
eventually led him to a long and respected tenure as a heavy equipment operator
for Local 150 in Joliet, Illinois. Larry's work ethic and commitment to his
craft earned him the admiration of his colleagues and the broader community
alike. Beyond
his professional life, Larry was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the
Shriners, organizations that aligned with his values of brotherhood and
philanthropy. His involvement in these groups was not just a reflection of his
desire to connect with like-minded individuals but also his unwavering
commitment to giving back to his community. Larry's
outgoing nature meant he never met a stranger. His warm and welcoming demeanor
was a beacon of light to those around him, creating lasting friendships and
leaving a legacy of kindness. He was the kind of person who made you feel at
home the moment you met him, with a smile that could light up any room. An
avid musician, Larry found solace and joy in playing his guitar. Many will
fondly remember the soothing sounds of his music wafting from his porch as he
sat, often surrounded by friends. These impromptu gatherings were a source of
happiness not only for Larry but for all who had the pleasure of joining in the
camaraderie. Larry's
life was one of meaningful connections, whether through his work, his service,
or his music. He had a knack for making every person feel significant and
heard, a quality that endeared him to many. His legacy is one of love,
laughter, and the simple pleasures of life, such as a good conversation on a
warm evening. Larry
is survived by his sons: Chris (Judy) Logan of Salem, Illinois, Jay (DeeDee)
Logan of Bloomington, Illinois; son-in-law: Terry Williams of Salem, Illinois;
6 grandchildren: Travis Logan, Jami Stranigan, Chasidy Logan-Rexroat, Larry E.
Logan, II, Lindsey Logan-Griffin, and Levi Logan; 7 great grandchildren; 7
great great grandchildren. Larry
was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Marla J. Williams. Funeral
services to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 9,
2024, at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville with Roy Koduvalil officiating.
A burial will follow at the Oskaloosa Cemetery, rural Xenia. Visitation will be
held on Thursday at the funeral home where friends may call from 11:00 am to
1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry’s memory to the
